Requests

Therapeutic Community (TC) clients often make requests to the staff – for instance, they ask for the staff members’ assistance in pursuing some goal or project (such as renewing a driver’s license). TCs are often residential and clients significantly depend on staff to help them achieve their goals and projects. TC staff sometimes find themselves in a difficult position – for instance, they may have reservations about the legitimate or reasonable character of the client’s request. The following article examines how TC staff members sometimes deal with this problem by challenging the legitimacy of the client’s goal or project. Follow the link to download the article.
